Impact of Giving
“During the last campaign, the vision and generosity of our donors resulted in 1,000 new student scholarship funds, nearly 100 endowed faculty support program funds and the construction or renovation of 20 facilities,” Clarence Castner, president of the University of Nebraska Foundation, said. “This raises everyone’s expectations for what a new campaign can achieve for students, teachers, research programs and the citizens of Nebraska who understand the importance of a great statewide university system.
“This campaign is focused on opportunities for students, on expanding research in areas we are already renowned and on making a difference in Nebraska, said James B. Milliken, president of the University of Nebraska. “The campaign will continue to build on the university’s tremendous momentum.”
“We are poised to become an international leader in a number of areas that matter greatly to Nebraska,” Milliken said.
Those areas include early childhood education; water, cancer and agricultural research; information technology and business; architecture and engineering; global engagement for students; and more.
The last campaign (ending in 2000), created 1,000 new scholarships, 95 distinguished professorships, constructed critical research buildings, and created academic programs now attracting the state’s best and brightest students.
For President Milliken the goal is simple.
“We want to be the best public university in the nation as measured by the impact we have on the people of the state we serve,”
